Using the form below you can find out if your building is lit for ethernet services, or how nearby the closest lit building is. It will show you the closest on net buildings on a google map. If we find any locations nearby you will presented will a form to request a quote for ethernet services. Some of the ethernet bandwidth products are Fast Ethernet, 100 Mbps ethernet, Gigabit ethernet service, Ethernet over Copper (EoC), Ethernet over Serial (EoS). For a defenition scroll down.

Why Business Ethernet services?

Ethernet is, quite simply, plugging your network directly into a telecom provider's network. When you bypass the local phone company you cut out an expensive transport step. Having direct access to customers is a carrier's goal as it allows them to control the user's experience from end to end while reducing cost. These savings are passed on to you. It also establish a direct relationship with a provider without the local Bell in the equation. And since the ethernet carrier is in complete control of your connection, it is much easier for them to provide QoS.

Ethernet definitions

Fast Ethernet is a term to describe various ethernet services that have a speed of 100Mbps. Traditionally the most common speed of ethernet was 10Mbps, thus the term FAST ethernet.
However nowadays ethernet speeds of 1000Mbps (a gigabit) are also possible. This is called Gigabit Ethernet or GigE.

Ethernet over Copper or EoC is a technology that uses copper as a delivery method for ethernet to the business premises. XO Communications is one of the companies offering Ethernet over Copper at a speed of 10Mbps. XO uses equipment from Hatteras Networks to deliver the ethernet signal over copper You can use the ethernet lit building tool above to see if EoC is available at your location. Ethernet over Copper can be very cost effective. It doesn't require any fiber, and runs on 5 pairs of copper. The reliability is good as well, and even with just one of the five copper pairs left you still have ethernet (at a lower speed). Currently the maximun distance for XO Ethernet over Copper is 9000ft from the phonecompanies CO. If you are further away, Ethernet over Serial (EoS) may be an alternative. XO's EoS is delivered over 7 DS1 loops and also has a speed of 10Mbps. It is slightly more expensive than ethernet over copper.
Ethernet over Copper pricing EoC (mid-band ethernet) at 10Mbps typically cost around $950 - $1100 per month.

Our ethernet quote tool helps you find ethernet quotes from XO, Level 3, Cavelier, Megapath and Time Warner Telecom. Our ethernet specialists will also be able to research alternative broadband options for you. Nowadays even 10 gigabit ethernet is available.
